What days and times is the course open for play?
The course is open during daylight hours seven days a week. Occasionally the course will close for maintenance and this will be advertised via the club website. Clubhouse opening hours vary to suit Club activity, however our standard hours are shown here.
Is there a dress code?
Yes there is a dress code but this is not as formal as golf from previous eras. Follow this link to make yourself familiar with our dress code. If you have any queries around this please don’t hesitate to contact the club office or Proshop.
I'm not a member, can I play at Manawatu Golf Club?
Yes non-members are very welcome. A list of our green fees can be found here.
Can I play if I don’t have a handicap?
Absolutely, but if you are a beginner golfer certain times will be better to play than others so you can take your time out on course. Ask the office or the pro shop what are the best times.
Do you have a restaurant/café where we can eat before or after our round?
Known as the ‘Hokowhitu Café and Bar’ our café and bar is open to the public Tuesday through to Sunday from 9.30am each day. Closing time depends on how busy the course is but it will be open until at least 2.30pm each day. Click here for more information.
We are not members, can we come down for a look around and maybe a coffee or something to eat?
Yes the course and Hokowhitu Café and Bar are both open to the public. Visitors to the course should check in at the Proshop or Club office on arrival. Visitors to the cafe and bar are welcome to make their way direct to the main Clubhouse.
Is golf a family sport?
Absolutely, it is a game that can be played from the very young through to retirement age. The club offers a number of membership types for all ages.
Can I bring my child with me?
Yes children are welcome to walk around the Golf course with you. If they wish to play they will need to pay a green fee. All children are the responsibility of their parents at all time while at the Club.
Do I have to be a member to use the driving range?
The driving range is open to members, green fee visitors and affiliated members of other Golf clubs to use.
How do I book a tee time for a group?
All group bookings are done through the Proshop.
Are there carts and buggies available for hire?
Yes the Proshop has carts and buggies available. It pays to book these in advance to avoid disappointment.
Can I bring my own golf cart?
Yes but you need to request permission from the General Manager first.
I am new to golf but would like to try – how do I get started?
The Proshop run great beginner clinics throughout the year and the Club puts on a beginner series each spring. The Proshop also offer individual lessons. Contact either the General Manager or the Proshop for more information.
I'd like to join the Club, what membership categories do you have?

Do I need proposers/seconders for my membership application?
Technically yes but the office can assist with this if you do not know anyone at the club, so please come and talk to us about this. More information about membership can be found here.
What are the benefits of social membership?
Social membership entitles you to access to the practice facilities, pay affiliated green fees when playing Golf here at the Manawatu Golf Club and receive 10% discount on beverages and 5% on food purchased from the Hokowhitu Café and Bar. Social members also receive the monthly newsletter and regular updates via email from the Club.
Do you offer golf lessons?
Individual or group lessons are available through our Proshop.
