OUR COACHES:
Alan Hyatt - Head Golf Professional
Alan grew up in Nelson and took up the game of golf in 2002 at the age of 14, playing amateur representative golf for Nelson & Tasman from 2003-2006. It was during this time that Alan decided to make a career out of his golf and in 2007 he started his NZPGA traineeship at the Manawatu Golf Shop. Alan finished his traineeship as "Player of the Year", and was runner-up Trainee of the Year for the class of 2009.
After taking a short break from the Pro Shop, Alan again joined the team at the Manawatu Golf Shop in 2010 and has built up a strong reputation for his coaching skills from juniors, beginners, club members and elite players. Coaching is a passion for Alan and as an accomplished player himself, he understands what it takes to play the game at a high level.
Alan enjoys playing in the various NZPGA events when he gets the chance, with his best finish being 2nd place at the Electronet Poverty Bay Pro-Am tournament.
Alan's skills and personality make him a valuable team member, so if it is a lesson you are looking for or advice on any area of the game of golf, you simply cannot go wrong by talking to and dealing with Alan as you can be sure that he has your very best interests at heart.
André White - Golf Operations
André came into golf by being introduced to the sport as a 17 year old at school. Having not found a sport that really gelled with him, golf filled this void. After completing his Traineeship as New Zealand’s “Trainee of the Year”, André played throughout New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific Islands, and Asia in Professional Tournaments, winning a number of Pro-Am events.
In 1992 André accepted the position as Golf Professional at the Palmerston North Golf Club and held the position until 2005, during which time he was awarded “Manawatu’s Retailer of the Year” and “Manawatu’s Coach of the Year”.
In 2005 André moved to the Manawatu Golf Club as the Head Golf Professional and has remained part of a successful Club, membership, retail and coaching operation.
